BEAUTY,

Two New Limited Edition Collections From MAC: Future MAC & Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

MAC recently launched two new limited edition collections, one is the Future MAC collection, inspired by the next generation of hyper-luminous Mineralize products and they also released five limited edition shades of the well famous Mineralize Skinfinish. I received couple of bits from both collections to test out so here are my thoughts on them.

First there’s the Future MAC collection, a collection that I can definitely get behind because I’m all about that luminosity and glow. The line has five Mineralize lipstick shades which were inspired by the five elements, four shades of the Mineralize Lipglass, eyeshadow quads, mineralize blushes and the star of the collection, the Mineralize Skinfinish in Other Earthly.

I have three products that are part of the Future MAC line, the Mineralize lipstick in Touch the Earth, Lustre Drops in Barbados Girl and the Mineralize Skinfinish in Otherearthly.

The Mineralize lipstick in Touch the Earth is described as a midtone taupe and it is spot on. If you’re not familiar with Mac’s Mineralize lipstick line, the formula is very moisturizing and lightweight and they’re meant to give you maximum moisture to your lips. The pigmentation is medium, so not too sheer but not overly pigmented too. Taupe shades don’t suit everyone but since the lipstick doesn’t pack full on pigment, the shade is actually very easy to pull off. On me it looks like a nice nude beige shade with a touch of taupe.

The Lustre Drops in Barbados Girl are described as a rose gold bronzer. The Lustre Drops are meant to be mixed with your foundation or skincare so the consistency is thinner than your usual liquid highlighter. They feel very lightweight and blend effortlessly in to the skin, leaving your skin with coppery luminosity. They can also be patted over foundation on the tops of your cheeks and used as a highlighter. Both ways work really well and add a touch of bronzed coppery glow to the face. Since these are on the darker side I recommend them for medium to dark skin tones.

As I mentioned before I think the Mineralize Skinfinish in Otherearthly is the star of the collection. Just look at that pattern! The Mineralize Skinfinish is meant to add some radiance to the face and to be used on the tops of the cheeks. The shades that come in the Otherearthly shade are described as soft brown, soft pink and silver. When they’re swirled together they give a beautiful peach rose golden glow to the cheeks. When I got the compact I was a little confused by the silver shade and how to use it but when the shades are swirled together you can’t see the silver, I think it just adds a touch of glow to the whole shade.

The formula of the Mineralize Skinfinish feels very soft and pigmented. I love that you can pick if you want to use the shades separately or together because the first two shades would work both as a separate highlighter. Unfortunately I can’t find this product on the website so I’m guessing it sod out but if you can find it definitely grab it.

MAC also released five limited edition shades from the Mineralize Skinfinishes. They basically covered all skin tones with these shades because you get some really nice lighter shades but also some really deep shades. I got two of the five available shades which unfortunately I can’t use as highlighters or face powders since they’re meant for darker skin tones but I found a way to test the powders as blushes and also as eyeshadows.

I got the shade in Sunny Side described as a sheer wash of coral with slight fine yellow pearl and Naturally Enhanced described as a sheer wash of reddish bronze with slight fine pink pearl.

The pans contain four shades which can be used alone or swirled together for a healthy glow. Since the baked powder is so soft it blends in to the skin perfectly and if you use a light hand it just leaves you with a nice flush of color. Naturally Enhanced actually makes my perfect warm toned eyeshadow palette and since the powder is meant for the face it blends like a dream on the eyes.

If you’re thinking what to pick from these two collections I would go with the Future MAC collection and pick up Otherearthly and probably some of the Mineralize blushes from the collection. If you can also find a shade that you like from the limited edition Mineralize Skinfinish line they’re also worth looking in to since the quality of the powders is awesome.
