Skincare Favorites of 2016

I finally got around of sorting out my skincare favorites of 2016. Skincare is very important to me and 2016 was a big year for skincare products. I’ve been trying to be consistent in my skincare routine and also learned how to layer my skincare (a blog post on this is coming up). This is my best 10 skincare products of 2016 and believe it or not it was harder to do than the makeup portion.

  1. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampules – This is the Advanced Night Repair Serum but on steroids! It’s a recovery concentrate packaged in micro ampules and helps with calming and renewing stressed looking skin. I use this in my nigh time skincare routine and layer it over top of the Advanced Night Repair Serum to get maximum impact.
  2. Dr Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Radiance Booster – It’s a concentrate that can be mixed with your favorite skincare or makeup or used on it’s own. Contains three acids, pyruvic, tartaric, and linoleic that help with resurfacing and provide firmed and luminous skin. I use this over my serum and before my moisturizer to add luminosity to my skin.
  3. Clarisonic Mia Fit – I didn’t get in to using a Clarisonic up to this past year. The Mia Fit is a gentle device that is also waterproof so you can use it in the shower. It deep cleans the skin but it’s also gentle enough that it doesn’t break me out. I love the compact size because it’s very easy to store when you travel and the fact that I can use it in the shower is a huge plus.
  4. GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment – One of the best hydrating masks I’ve tried. This literally makes my skin glow! I’ve been battling dry skin since I moved to Colorado and this stuff works like magic.
  5. Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist – Do you sense a pattern here? I’ve been using a lot of hydrating products this past year. The Tatcha mist is a liquid moisturizer in a bottle. It adds hydration and keeps your skin moisturized and leaves you with a dewy look. You can use it on bare skin or over your foundation if you want to add glow to your base.
  6. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado – If you’re looking for a heavy duty hydrating eye cream, look no further. This is hands down the thickest most hydrating eye cream I own. I have dry under eye area and this cream helps me so much. It doesn’t have anti-aging properties so I sometimes combine it with other eye creams that do. Skincare_Favorites_2016_2
  7. Pixi Glow Tonic – This tonic is a cult favorite for a reason. It contains Glycolic Acid that exfoliates and purifies the skin, refines the pores, while Aloe Vera also helps with calming. It’s one of the best exfoliating toners I’ve tried! It’s alcohol free and suitable for all skin types.
  8. Kate Sommerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cleanser – I feel in love with the Goat Milk line this past year. Everything from the moisturizer to the eye balm is amazing if you have dry skin. The cleanser ended up being a favorite because it’s a super gentle cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin but still helps with dirt and oil.
  9. Algenist GENIUS Ultimate Anti-Aging Cream – This stuff is amazing! Not only it helps with firmness and the appearance of fine lines, it also brightens and provides hydration. And as a plus it smells amazing and looks great under foundation.
  10. Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One Lactic Acid Treatment – It’s a lactic acid treatment that exfoliates, plumps the skin and also helps with hyperpigmentation. I prefer to use acid treatments to exfoliate my skin rather than using physical exfoliators, since they can be too harsh for the skin. This stuff is pricy but it does everything that it claims, so well worth the investment.

Let me know if you like to see more skincare posts here on my blog. I’ve been testing a lot of products and learning about ingredients and what to use for specific needs.

What were your skincare favorites for the past year?
