MAC just launched a new limited edition cream eyeshadow line called the Soft Serve Eyeshadows, a cream eyeshadow that has a unique bouncy texture that sets to a powder. The line has 12 available shades ranging from pretty neutrals to some pops of pastel shades that will be perfect for the spring and summer months.
Mac describes the Soft Serve eyeshadows as a long wearing and crease resistant cream eyeshadow with a unique bouncy yet creamy texture. For application they recommend to use their new 248 Small Eye Shader Brush with a flat paddle shape and synthetic fibres that is perfect for applying cream eyeshadows. Any flat synthetic brush would do the job but you can also use your fingers if you want a quicker way to apply the eyeshadows.
I got 8 from the 12 available shades in:
Best Make Up (Light Golden Highlighter in Pearl finish)
Plead Gilty (Vibrant Sparkling Gold in Pearl finish)
Cushy Life (Light Warm Golden Beige in Pearl finish)
Girls Girls (Soft Pastel Purple in Satin finish)
So So Saucy (Midtone Peach in Satin finish)
Big Bad Blue (Soft Pastel Blue in Satin finish)
Put Me To Shame (Midtone Dirty Taupe in Satin finish)
Quite Yummy (Light Pink in Satin finish)
Top to Bottom: Big Bad Blue, Cushy Life, Quite Yummy, Plead Gilty, Best Make Up, Girls Girls!, Put Me To Shame, So So Saucy
The formula of the Soft Serve eyeshadows feels very soft and creamy to the touch with the bouncy texture that is very similar to the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadows, in fact I think they’re almost the same product. They have the same texture and also provide the same wash of sparkly color to the eyes. These are not your usual full on pigmented cream eyeshadows, instead they provide a sheer to light wash of color that’s super pretty and sparkly and makes your eyelids look almost wet.
The Soft Serve eyeshadows come in two finishes, a Pearl which is more sparkly and Satin which has sparkle but it’s more subtle than the Pearl finish.
Swatches of the MAC Soft Serve Eyeshadows L to R: Best Make Up, Cushy Life, Quite Yummy, So So Saucy, Put Me To Shame, Plead Gilty, Girls Girls!, Big Bad Blue
I love a simple wash of color on the eyes especially for the summer months. I prefer to wear lighter makeup during hot days since I don’t like the feeling of heavy makeup on my skin so I think these would be perfect for that. You can also use them as eyeshadow toppers if you wand to add a touch of sparkle to your eye look and if you prefer a more intense look.
Also if you’ve always wanted to try the Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadows but didn’t want to spend the big bucks these are a great alternative with almost half the price.
