We’re at the end of April and it still doesn’t feel like Spring here in CO. The weather has been on and off warm but per example today it is snowing! I’ve been super busy this past month, with all the new spring and summer launches and going away for a week in Miami I have yet to catch my breath and relax. This past month I had a simpler makeup routine and basically used all the products that I will mention almost every single day.
Base
Urban Decay launched a new base that’s part of their Naked line called the Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector. It’s an oil free hybrid complexion cream that provides light coverage similar of a BB cream and blurs out pores and imperfections. I’m all about a good light base so naturally I loved this product. I took it with me while on vacation in Miami and used it every day and it hold up so well in the heat and humidity. My skin gets oilier in humid weather so I used an Hourglass powder to set the base and it lasted pretty much all day. Highly recommend it if you’re in to light coverage bases and you’re looking for a good summer base.
This past month it’s been all about the color correcting products. I tested a new release from Smashbox, their Color Correcting Sticks and ended up using one of the shades every day. I don’t need a lot of color correcting on my face but I do need help with darkness under the eyes and the shade in Look Less Tired (Light) has been a life savior. It completely cancels out my dark circles and the product just blends out so well in to the skin and looks very natural. I use a concealer after I color correct just to brighten the under eye area more but I bet I can only use this product on my “natural” days.
To make my base more glowy I’ve been mixing the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Illuminator with my foundation or BB cream. It just gives such a beautiful glow to the face without looking shimmery and also works really well just as a liquid highlighter on the tops of the cheeks. You can also mix this with your body cream for an all over glow which is oh so summer appropriate.
Eyes
I didn’t do much with my eye makeup for the past month, I kept it very simple and low maintenance. As soon as Spring comes I reach for cream eyeshadows a lot and the one that I’ve been constantly using is the MAC Cream Color Base in Golden Age, part of the limited edition collection that was in collaboration with Charlotte Olympia. What’s different about this cream eyeshadow is the finish, it gives a beautiful sheen to the eyes, almost like you’re wearing a gloss but the difference is that it doesn’t budge or crease. Golden Age is still available online if you want to pick it up.
Another new launch, the Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencils ended up in my favorites. The shade in ME-42 has been on repeat since I got it. I prefer a brown or a bronze eyeliner for every day use and this shade is just perfect for my brown eyes. I wear it both as eyeliner and in the waterline and it literally doesn’t budge all day. The Aqua XL Eye Pencils are waterproof and the most long wearing eye liners I’ve tried. Highly recommend!
For mascara I’ve been reaching for the Lancome Hypnose Drama. I’m very picky when it comes to mascara because a lot of mascaras smudge on me, plus I don’t like to layer different mascaras in order to get the perfect volume and length so when one mascara gives those results I stick with it. The Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara gives me volume and length and makes my lashes super black, it doesn’t give me panda eyes at the end of the day and as the name applies gives you dramatic lashes.
Lips
I think I found my perfect peachy nude combo for summer! The new Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick in Meringue (peachy nude) and the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in Sugar Sugar (champagne gold shimmer) make the perfect glossy nude lips. I wore this combo all week while in Miami and it just worked so well with every eye makeup and it is super comfortable on the lips.
