Inspired by the elements, air, earth, fire and water, the new Urban Decay Elements Eyeshadow Palette gives us an explosion of colors. The 19 shades that come in the palette are all new, never before seen shades from the brand. There are a lot of shimmers in the palette with a few mattes that are one of the best matte formula that I’ve tried from the brand.
You get your neutral and bronze shades but you also get some rich pops of color. There are three finishes in the Urban Decay Elements Palette: matte, metallic and micro-shimmer, which feel similar to their Moondust formula.
The shades that come in the Urban Decay Elements Palette are:
Eyeshadows in Silver Burn (smoky purple with pink iridescent sparkle)
Electric Air (pinkish silver with iridescent micro-glitter)
Tectonic (chocolate brown with iridescent micro-sparkle)
Volcanic (bronze metallic)
Earth Bound (forest green satin with tonal micro-shimmer)
Hex Remedy (bright purple with iridescent sparkle)
Fool’s Gold (metallic gold with tonal sparkle)
Antidote (soft warm nude)
Dream Weaver (bright pink matte)
Ego (soft pinkish-purple with blue micro-shimmer)
Fortune Teller (metallic pink-red with green 3-D sparkle and shift)
Moon Rock (metallic copper with iridescent sparkle)
Secret Keeper (bright green satin with gold shift)
Luna (white shimmer with iridescent micro-sparkle)
Lioness (smoky burgundy satin with bronze sparkle)
Elemental (sienna matte), Heavy Water (bright metallic teal)
Sapphire Dream (bright navy blue metallic)
Fire Starter (deep red with gold micro-shimmer)
When it comes to shimmers, Urban Decay makes one of the best formula on the market. They are all very pigmented, vivid, but also apply really well on the eyes. The micro-glitters in this palette are best applied either with fingers or with a wet brush, so you prevent any fallout.
As I mentioned before, the few matte shades that are in the palette are one of the best formula I’ve tried from Urban Decay. They feel silky to the touch but they are not powdery. Blend seamlessly on the eyes and are true to color.
As for favorite shades in the palette, of course I love all the neutral shades. Moon Rock, Volcanic and Elemental are shades that I wear on daily basis. The blue shades are also gorgeous from the palette and pack serious pigment on the eyes. The shade that is in the middle which is Luna is more of a topper and it has beautiful iridescent sparkle.
Swatches L to R: Luna, Fool’s Gold, Moon Rock, Tectonic, Hex Remedy, Fortune-Teller, Silver Burn
Swatches L to R: Elemental, Volcanic, Lioness, Fire Starter, Dream Weaver, Ego, Heavy Water, Sapphire Dream, Electric Air, Antidote, Secret Keeper, Earthbound
Bottom line, the Urban Decay Elements Eyeshadow Palette is another great palette from the brand. If you love your shimmers and are looking for a palette that offers more than neutral shades, I think this palette is a great option. I find the packaging sturdy and well made and not on the bulky side so it will make for a great travel palette too. The big mirror is also a big plus.
