I’ve stated before that I like my foundations on the lighter side, I love Chanel Velvet and YSL Fusion Ink foundation cause of their lighter liquidy texture and I use them all the time during the colder months. But when spring comes I like my base to have more glow than to have a matte finish.
It’s pretty hard to find a glowy base that will work for combo to oily skin and not make you oilier. With trial and error I’ve found a few bases that work for my skin and provide glowy finish.
Chanel Les Beiges All In One Healthy Glow Fluid – Is an ultra light base with an SPF of 15. You can use the base on it’s own when you don’t need a lot of coverage or you can use it under foundation when you want to add a touch of glow to your skin. This base evens out my skin tone but doesn’t cover any blemishes so I always spot conceal if I need to. I would say that this would work for dry, normal and combo skin, if you’re oily you will probably not like this.
Bareminerals Complexion Rescue – It’s a gel cream that provides skincare benefits and coverage in one. This is a great base if you need extra hydration for your skin. The coverage is like a tinted moisturizer so it’s pretty sheer but you can build it up on areas if needed. The finish is similar to the Chanel Les Beiges fluid so if you’re on a budget this is a great less expensive option.
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation – I love everything Charlotte Tilbury so it was a matter of time before I tried her foundation. This foundation provides light to medium buildable coverage and leaves a healthy glow. I would say this is a “skin like” foundation and perfect for a natural makeup day. The foundation would work up to combo skin cause it has a dewy finish so if you have an extremely oily skin this will not last on your face.
Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint – I’ve already talked about the Glossier base in my monthly favorites so you know how much I like this. This base not only helps with my skin tone it also blurs out pores so when I use this I can skip my primer. It has enough coverage to even out my skin tone and make my face feel healthy. This is the only base that apply using my hands cause I find that I get the best results that way.
Since I have combo skin I always set my makeup with a setting powder, I’m currently using the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Powder and it works well with all bases. I also use a concealer to spot conceal and under my eyes just to cover up my dark circles and brighten that area.
For a healthy and glowy natural look I find that it’s better to use a lighter base and add coverage with concealing. The finished look is a flawless looking base that looks like skin.
