The Nars Dual-Intensity eyeshadows are a newer formula to Nars, they’re supposed to be an eight hour wear eyeshadows with the option to be used dry or wet. When used dry they give a wash of color but when you wet the brush you get the most gorgeous metallic wet looking eyeshadow.
I picked up two shades in Subra (Black orchid) and Cassiopeia (Iridescent electric pink). I picked up a lighter and a darker shade so I can do a whole look with these shades. They’re great for doing a Holiday look or a nighttime look. The pigmentation is on point and they blend perfect, I have nothing bad to say about these eyeshadows. The only con is that they’re on the pricy side at $29 each.
Nars just announced that they’re coming out with a dual-intensity eyeshadow palette that will contain eight shades for $79, which is a pretty good deal considering the price of the singles. The palette will be available January 1st on Nars.com and February at Sephora and other retailers.
If you don’t want to spend the money on the Nars eyeshadows I have a budget option, the Kiko water eyeshadows. They run for $12 each and if you can get your hands on these I highly recommend them.
The texture of the eyeshadows is very similar to the Nars shadows, they also can be used dry or wet. They have variety of colors but I’m not sure if you can find the exact dupes for the Nars shades.
I have two shades from the Kiko wet eyeshadows in 204 and 208. I’ve read that the eyeshadow in 208 is a dupe for the MAC Whisper of Gilt highlighter which was limited edition and very popular.
The swatches above are dry and you can see that they swatch pretty similar.
These swatches are applied wet, with the help of MAC Fix +. As you can see the pigmentation is way better when applied wet and i’m sure you can intensify the metallic finish by adding more eyeshadow on top, the swatches are only one swipe.
Unfortunately Kiko products are pretty hard to find here in the States, they have couple of stores and no online shopping option but I’ve been told that they’re working on the online shop so let’s hope that it will happen soon.
