MAC just released a limited edition shadow collection called Spellbinder. The MAC Spellbinder Shadows have black ionized pigments that are magnetically charged which fuses the loose powder together so it maintains it’s form and dimension. They sound very science forward right?
They’re actually one of the most original eyeshadows I’ve tried when it comes to the texture. When you dip your finger in the pot it feels like you’re touching velvet, they’re super smooth and soft to the touch. The finish is described as a metallic but the shimmer is very fine which makes them pretty wearable even for people who don’t like to use shimmer on daily basis.
The MAC Spellbinder line has eight different shades ranging from a beautiful teal to bronze and deep berry shade. I received three of the eight shades in Blue Karma, Cosmic Clash and Mysterious Influence.
Blue Karma is described as a soft grayed teal. It’s a beautiful deep muted teal shade which surprisingly is very wearable. It’s more of a fall shade than your regular bright teal that I keep for the warmer months.
Cosmic Clash is described as a deep green. It’s a very dark almost black green with a cool undertone. It’s very rich in pigment and pretty deep so right on par with the fall trends.
Mysterious Influence is a rich olive golden green. It’s my favorite shade of the bunch because it suits my brown eyes so well.
The pigmentation of all three shades is amazing. They feel very soft and smooth but you don’t get any fallout with application. Like I said before, the finish is shimmery but it’s sophisticated shimmer so you don’t see any chunks of glitter or shimmer, it just looks very smooth and shimmery. The pattern that you see on the eyeshadows doesn’t get ruined when you dip your finger in them which is pretty interesting. I seriously can’t get over the unique texture, if you have a MAC counter near you go and swatch them, you’ll be amazed how soft they feel.
Swatches L to R: Mysterious Influence, Blue Karma, Cosmic Clash
MAC has two more neutral shades that I’m definitely picking up, the shades in Dynamically Charged (taupy cool bronze) and Higher Power (rich deep brown). Since I like the formula so much I figured why not get two shades that I would wear a lot.
The MAC Spellbinder Shadows are already available on maccosmetics.com and in stores and they’re priced at $22 each.
