I had a preview of two products that recently came out at MAC, one that’s part of their permanent line and the All The Right Angles collection and the other a beautiful lipstick that was released in collaboration with Caitlyn Jenner. The All The Right Angles line contains three MAC sculpting products in one compact palette. The palette has a Cream Color Base, Sculpting and Shaping powder to help you highlight, sculpt and contour your face.
The palette is available in four shades in: Light, Medium, Medium Dark and Dark. The Light palette contains Bone Beige ( a soft brown matte which is the sculpting powder), Emphasize (off white with fine pearl, shaping powder) and Luna (bright white with shimmer as the Cream Color Base).
The Medium palette is the one I picked has the following shades: Sculpt (soft taupe matte as the sculpting powder), Accentuate (peachy beige with fine pearl as the shaping powder) and Hush (soft peach with icy shimmer as the Cream Color Base).
The Medium Dark palette contains: Shadester (mid-tone leathery brown as the sculpting powder), Lightsweep (warm beige with fine pearl as the shaping powder) and Naked Universe (golden beige with shimmer as the Cream Color Base).
And finally the Dark palette has the shades in: Definitive (midtone reddish brown as the sculpting powder), Warm Lights (clean peach as the shaping powder) and Improper Copper (copper with high karat gold as the Cream Color Base).
If you’re around my skin tone, a light to medium the Medium palette will be a perfect match. The shades in the Medium palette are spot on. The sculpting shade is the right contour shade that’s not completely cool toned that it looks ashy on your skin but also doesn’t have a lot of warm tones. The Shaping powder is great for setting your under eye area or just highlighting any areas on your face that you want to be highlighted. The powder has a tiny bit of a sheen but it’s not completely shimmery so it can be used as a subtle highlight or an all over setting powder.
My favorite part of the palette is the Cream Color Base and the shade that’s in the Medium palette is one of my favorite cream highlighters. Hush is a beautiful peachy highlighter that looks almost wet on your skin. It’s described as having icy shimmer but on the skin you can’t actually see any shimmer, it just looks like a beautiful peachy sheen.
The quality of the All The Right Angles palette in Medium is excellent. The two powders on top are pigmented but not as pigmented that kick any excess powder. Especially with contouring powders I prefer the powder to be in the middle so you don’t go overboard on your contour and it’s also easier to build up the product and to blend it effortlessly.
If you’re looking for a good compact contouring palette that is great for travel the All The Right Angles palettes are an excellent choice. I can’t say about the quality of the other shades since I haven’t tested them out but the one I have in Medium is a great on the go contouring palette that I highly recommend.
The other recent MAC launch is the lipstick in Finally Free, a collaboration with Caitlyn Jenner. First of all I love the cause behind this lipstick but I also really like the shade that they released. 100% of the selling price goes to the MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative to further it’s work in support of the transgender communities. It’s an exclusive online lipstick and it’s limited edition so if you’re planning to grab a shade it will be available for a limited time only.
Finally Free is described as a midtone rosy nude shade in a cremesheen finish. I think the description is spot on, it’s a really nice darker rosy nude shade that will suit a lot of skin tones. The formula is very creamy but also packs a good pigment. All in all it is a great every day neutral shade that you keep in your bag.
I’m pretty excited to see what MAC has in stores for the summer months and judging by last year’s summer collection I’m hoping they’ll release some great shimmery and bronzy products.
Have you picked up anything recently from MAC? If you’re planning on getting a new every day lip shade I recommend checking out Finally Free, it’s for a great cause and the lip shade is gorgeous.
