My curly hair journey has been a tough one. When I was little, I hated my curly hair. I didn’t know how to manage it and my mom was no help, so I kept it always up. I finally learned to love my curly hair in college after straightening my hair all through high school. A curl cream goes a long way! These days, I embrace my curls and I’m happy to say that I haven’t straighten my hair since high school (which was a long time ago).
I was introduced to PHYTO hair care probably two years ago. I had the pleasure to work on one of their campaigns. Since then, I’ve been using and loving their products that are meant for curly hair, but also products that provide hydration, shine and nourishment.
If you are not familiar with the brand, they are a French brand that makes hair care products that are paraben, sulfate, silicone and talc free. As a curly girl, I try to avoid all of the above since my hair doesn’t react well to sulfates and silicone.
I’m currently using both the Curl Legend Cream Gel (currently on sale) and Baobab Oil . Since not everyone has curly hair, I figured I’ll share five products from the brand that are nourishing and work for most hair types.
First up, is the PHYTOELIXIR Oil. Rich in Vitamin E and a blend of Camellia and Karanja Oils, this provides a ton of hydration and nourishment for dry and extra dry hair. It is 98% natural and botanical and has a very pleasant herbal scent. What I like about this oil is that is lightweight and it doesn’t weight down my hair. It doesn’t feel greasy or heavy on the hair. I like to use it both on wet hair after I apply my styling products as a sealer, or even on dry hair, whenever my ends feel like they need a pick me up.
Another nourishing product that is great for dry hair is the PHYTO 9. This is a nourishing leave in day cream with 9 plants.
Ingredients:
Burdock: Strengthens
Calendula: Prevents splitting
Macadamia Oil: Nourishes
Mallow: Softens
Rosemary: Tones
Sage: Antioxidant
St. John’s Wort: Protects
Soybean: Restructures
Willow: Soothes
You can use the PHYTO 9 both on toweled dry hair or dry hair. I apply a pea size amount (a little goes a long way) through my hair and focus on my ends since I get the most dryness there.
The PHYTO 9 day cream:
- Moisturizes, nourishes and smoothes
- Prevents split ends
- Tames frizz and static
- Provides ultimate softness, suppleness, and shine without weighing hair down
The PHYTOPROGENIUM Leave in Milk is a very gentle detangling milk that can be used prior blow drying (for soft and hydrated hair), or as a finishing spray (to add shine and tame flyaways).
Active Ingredients:
Oat Milk: Leaves hair extremely soft and tamed, without weighing it down.
Mallow Extract: delivers softness and hydration to the hair fiber.
Calendula Oil: softens, nourishes and soothes the hair
Rosemary Oil: restores vitality and shine.
If I don’t detangle my hair in the shower, this is what I use to detangle before I apply any styling products. I like that the Leave in Milk softens my hair but it doesn’t feel greasy. It also helps with frizz which is a big issue for me (my curly hair gets frizzy very easy). I also like to use the PHYTOPROGENIUM Leave in Milk when I do a curl refresh. I feel like it helps with detangling but also with adding moisture to my hair.
The PHYTOKERATINE Extreme Exceptional Repair Leave-In Cream is a luxury leave in cream that prevents breakage, dryness and frizz.
- Anti-breakage and split end prevention
- Extraordinary shine and silky-soft touch
- Thermal protection up to 430 degrees Fahrenheit
- Smooths for easy styling
- Anti-frizz humidity shield
Active Ingredients:
Sapote Butter: 2x richer in Omega 6 fatty acids than Shea Butter; hair is soft, protected, and replenished
Baobob Oil: Restores the hydrolipidic film; increases suppleness and strength
Botanical Keratin: Biomimetic complex of 18 amino acids, imitates hair’s natural keratin
This product leaves my hair very soft and shiny. It’s lightweight and doesn’t leave any residue after application so I can use it either on damp hair, but also on dry hair. I stay away from my roots with application since the PHYTOKERATINE Extreme Exceptional Repair Leave-In Cream is quite hydrating.
I recommend the PHYTOKERATINE Extreme Exceptional Repair Leave-In Cream to anyone who has problems with dryness or colors/highlights their hair.
And lastly, the PHYTOKERATINE Extreme Mask. This is one of my favorite deep conditioning masks! After each use, it leaves my hair soft, tangle free and shiny.
Active Ingredients:
Sapote Butter: 2x richer in Omega 6 fatty acids than Shea Butter; hair is soft, protected and replenished
Baobab Oil: Restores the hydrolipidic film; increases suppleness and strength
Botanical Keratin: Biomimetic complex of 18 amino acids; imitates hair’s natural keratin
How to apply:
For fine hair: After shampooing, on towel dried-hair, apply a small amount to mid-lengths and ends. Comb through to distribute evenly and leave on for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
For thick hair: After shampooing, on towel-dried hair, apply a quarter-sized amount to mid-lengths and ends. Comb through to distribute evenly and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes or longer if needed. Rinse thoroughly.
The PHYTOKERATINE Extreme Mask helps reducing breakage, adds a ton of shine to your hair and provides nourishment. If you color your hair, this is a great treatment to be used once a week. The tub comes with a lot of product so since you are using a small amount, it will last awhile.
I also wanted to mention the PHYTOPHANERE Dietary Supplement. I’ve mentioned these on my social, but they are one of my favorite hair and nail supplement that I’ve tried. They are the only supplement that have made a difference in my hair. I had a really bad hair loss post babies (it was worse after the second baby) and since using these, my hair is almost back to normal. I’m on my third bottle and never stopping.
*Many thanks to PHYTO for partnering with me on this post.
