Have you heard of a product that is used to adjust the tone of your foundation? I’ve never tried a product like that until I received The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops. It’s basically a liquid that comes in white or dark brown shade and it’s used to customize/adjust the shade of a foundation that doesn’t totally match your skin tone.
The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops come in two shades, a Lightening shade that’s basically white that lightens your foundation but also neutralizes yellow tones and Darkening, a dark brown shade that darkens your foundation while keeping the tones neutral.
Both shades come with a dropper which makes mixing very easy. Since the liquids are super pigmented a dropper really helps controlling how much product you dispense.
I think the Shade Adjusting Drops come in handy especially if you don’t want to change your current foundation and we all know that with the seasons changing our skin gets either lighter or darker so both shades are very useful if you don’t want to buy different shades of your favorite foundation. These are also very helpful if you’re a makeup artist and they will probably save you a lot of money on different shades of foundations.
The formula of the liquid actually feels like a liquid foundation and it’s super pigmented. They both have a slight scent which doesn’t linger after application. Also I’m happy to report that the Shade Adjusting Drops don’t mess with the formula of your foundation, so the finish and consistency of the foundation will remain the same.
Swatches L to R: The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops Lightening, The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops Darkening, Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation in 26 Beige, Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation in 26 Beige with a drop of the Lightening Shade, Burberry Fresh Glow Foundation in 26 Beige with a drop of the Darkening Shade
As you can see by the swatches I did of my go to foundation you only need a drop of the Shade Adjusting Drops and it makes such a difference in the shade. The swatches were done with one pump of foundation and one drop of the Shade Adjusting Drops so depending how much foundation you use you can adjust the amount of drops you need.
I haven’t seen similar products on the market like the Shade Adjusting Drops so I think they’re a neat product to try. I don’t think they’re a must if you do own a lot of foundations but they come in handy if you want to use the same foundation all year round.
Also if you’re someone who can’t find a perfect match of a foundation that you like these are good to have. I know there are not a lot of foundations for fair girls on the market so the Lightening shade would be a great addition to your makeup collection if you’re on the fair side.
