I started working on my 2014 beauty favorites as soon as the year ended and I have to say that it was pretty hard to pick favorites cause I had a lot :). I discovered new brands in 2014 and bough a lot of makeup so it was tough not to include all of them.
Lets start with the face:
Base: My go to foundations were the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet when I wanted a natural look, this was basically my every day foundation and the YSL Fusion Ink foundation when I wanted my makeup to last all day and my face to look flawless.
Cheeks: The Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow tops all my bronzers and highlighters, it’s the best contouring and highlighting duo I have ever tried and it’s been my go to since I got it.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush palette was hands down my favorite purchase of 2014. I’m hoping Hourglass will make this permanent cause every makeup lover needs to own this beauty.
Benefit Rockateur has been my go to blush on days when I didn’t know what blush to pair with my lipstick, it gives a natural look to the cheeks and goes with everything.
Eyes: Favorite palette of 2014 goes to my Lorac Pro palette. I love this palette for travel cause I have everything that I need in there. It was hard to pick one Pro palette cause both are equally good, it just depends if you like warm tones better than cooler tones.
I’ve been really in to cream eyeshadows in an eye pencil form. The two I used the most were the Laura Mercier Eye Caviar Eye Stick in Amethyst, I’m almost out of this one and I’m definitely picking up a full size and the Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in 05 which is very similar to Amethyst just with a little more sparkle.
MAC Teddy has been my go to eye kohl for my water line and also when I wanted a more natural lined eye. It’s a brown eye kohl with a touch of gold glitter so it compliments my brown eyes really well.
I fell in love with the Kat Von D Tattoo liner in Trooper last year, I got a deluxe sample from Sephora and it’s still going strong, definitely picking up a full size when I run out.
Same goes to mascara, the YSL Babydoll mascara has been my go to. It’s also a deluxe size and I got couple of them from Sephora that will last me for a while. This mascara gives me the longest no clump lashes, it’s just the best I’ve tried.
Last year I also tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz for the first time and never looked back. Hands down the best brow pencil. If you’re on a budget the Kiko brow pencil is similar to the Brow Wiz it just doesn’t have the nice spoolie that the Brow Wiz has.
Lips: Last year I really got out of my comfort zone when it came to lipsticks, I started to experiment with a lot of different shades and I’m glad I did cause I would never guessed that orange or dark lips suit me.
MAC Rebel was my go to fall lipstick, it’s just the perfect berry shade that suits everybody.
Bite Beauty has a special place in my heart, I love every lip product that they launch, they just can’t do wrong. Their high pigment pencils are long wearing and smell divine, I loved the shade in Winterberry that came with their Holiday set and unfortunately was limited edition.
I think 2014 was the year of liquid lipsticks. Every company came out with their own version of the matte liquid lipstick. The shade that caught my eye was the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Aria, the perfect long lasting matte berry shade.
Nars came out with their new Audacious lipstick line in 2014. The collection has the best lipstick formula out there, they’re creamy, pigmented, long lasting and the color selection is outstanding. The nude shade that I’ve been reaching for is in Barbara, it’s the perfect nude for my complexion.
One makeup company that caught my eye on IG in 2014 was ColourPop. Their products are affordable but don’t lack in quality. I tried their lippie stix and a shade I wore a lot was the shade in Brink, a very nice darker nude a la Kylie Jenner. I still have to try their eyeshadows cause I’ve heard very good reviews.
And last is my most worn lip pencil in 2014 ( this is my second one), the Urban Decay Naked, it’s very creamy and you can actually wear on it’s own cause of how pigmented and soft it is.
