I was browsing my local Walgreens the other day when I stumbled upon the new Rimmel Show Off Matte Lip Velvets so I had to pick some up since I loved their Lip Lacquers from the same line.
I picked up the shades: Atomic Rose (pinky nude), Orange-Ology(straight up orange) and Meteoric Matte(berry shade). They have five shades available, the other two that I don’t have are Burning Lava(darker red) and Apollo (light peachy nude).
The formula of these remind me of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams but they’re a touch creamier. They don’t accentuate dry patches like other matte lipsticks and they feel very nice on the lips, actually this is the most hydrating formula that I’ve ever experienced from a matte lipstick.
The applicator is the same as the lacquer version and it’s very easy to use. These apply matte but don’t set like other liquid lipsticks so they do transfer. They lasted on me around five hours, the average lasting power of a matte lipsticks and they fade in to a nice stain and never look patchy.
If you can’t stand the matte feeling of other lipsticks cause they’re drying I recommend trying these, cause you get that matte finish without the drying part. They’re not as long lasting as other matte liquid lipsticks but you get more hydration.
The swatches are made with one swipe so you can see how pigmented they are. I like all three shades and I might just pick up the red cause it looked very pretty.
