Urban Decay released a new foundation that’s part of their Fall 2016 collection called the All Nighter Liquid Foundation. The foundation claims to be long-lasting, waterproof, full coverage with a modern matte finish. It’s also oil free and has three times the amount of pigment than their Naked Skin foundation so that means that you will use less product to achieve full coverage.
Of course the first thing that you notice is the beautiful designed silver metal packaging. The foundation has a pump which I prefer and you get 1 oz of product which is the average for every foundation on the market.
The All Nighter Liquid Foundation line has 24 shades with 0.5 being with pink undertone and the whole numbers are with warm undertones. They also have 0.25 shades that have a neutral undertone. When picking up your shade just be aware that the foundation oxidizes meaning it goes a little darker after application so be sure to go a shade lighter than your usual shade.
I received three shades to test out, 4.5 (medium light beige with subtle pink undertone), 5 (medium with soft warm undertone) and 5.5 (medium with subtle pink undertone). I prefer my foundation either with neutral or warm undertones so the shade 5 is my match when I’m a little tan so it will be perfect for the summer months. For fall and winter I think I need to go down and get the shade in 4 (medium-light with soft warm undertone) or even go with 3.25 which is light with neutral undertones.
The finish of the foundation is really nice, it’s matte but still looks very natural on the skin. The pigmentation is insane, they were not kidding when they said that this has triple the pigment than their Naked Skin foundation, I only needed one pump to achieve medium coverage and two for full. For application I used both a buffing brush and a beauty sponge and both worked great. If you need more moisture it’s better to use a damp sponge for application and if you’re oily a brush would work just fine.
After application the foundation sets very fast so I didn’t feel the need to powder (my skin has been on the normal side so I haven’t been using any setting powders). It sets to a nice powdery finish so you can use a bronzer and blush over it without worrying that they will look blotchy. The foundation looked great after an 8h wear without any touchups.
Swatches of the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation L to R: 4.5, 5, 5.5
Since the All Nighter Liquid Foundation is matte it is perfect for oily skin. If you prefer a matte finish you can also use it if you have combination to normal skin, dry skin girls will not like this. My skin has been pretty normal so I used a hydrating primer before applying the foundation and I got a really nice velvet finish. Also because the foundation is so long lasting this would be great for special occasions.
The Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation is available on urbandecay.com and Sephora and it’s priced at $40.
