Liquid highlighters are the more natural cousins of powder highlighters. The neat thing about liquid highlighters is that you can use them as a base before your foundation or just mix a drop with your foundation for an all over glow.
I find that liquid highlighters look more natural on the skin and because of that you can wear them during the day and not feel like a disco ball. Don’t get me wrong I love a good strong highlight but with my natural day to day makeup it just doesn’t look right.
Becca Cosmetics is very famous for their highlighter line. They have them in a liquid, pressed and now in a cream form. I have Opal in the pressed form and I love it but I keep that one for nighttime use.
I recently picked up the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone, a pale gold that suits a lot of skin tones. I like using this on top of my cheekbones as a subtle highlight but also as a base for an all over glow. What I love about this liquid highlighter is that it doesn’t make my face greasy, even when I apply it all over, my foundation still looks good at the end of the day. Of course I always powder my t-zone since I have combo skin and I get oily through the day.
The other liquid highlighter that I like is not actually a highlighter, it’s marketed as a illuminating primer. The L’oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer is a pearl color primer that provides brightness and luminosity to the skin. I find that I can’t use this as a primer because it has a white base and I don’t think it looks good on my medium skin tone. But as a cheek highlight it’s perfect. As Becca Moonstone it gives a subtle highlight to the cheeks and never looks frosty.

I like both highlighters, they’re different in color so I switch them up depending on my makeup that day. Also one is expensive and the other is very affordable. Sephora also has a travel size of the Becca Moonstone highlighter which is actually a generous size so if they have that in stock I would probably go with that cause the bigger bottle is huge and it will probably last me for a lifetime.
