I previously shared my summer makeup must-haves and as my makeup, my body care, hair care and skincare products also change. I have some products that I use all year round but I also add some products that I think are necessary to survive the heat.
Skincare – As with most people my skin type changes as the weather gets warmer. Since I live in a place where there’s no humidity and the air is pretty dry my skin doesn’t change drastically as it did when I lived in Miami ( I was super oily in summer) but I do get a little oily around my t-zone. So normally when your skin type changes you have to adjust your skincare routine.
For summer I also love to use a face mist because they feel very refreshing. A good tip is to put your face mist in the fridge and when you’re hot or you want to refresh your makeup it’s a nice way to cool off. A face mist that I’m currently using and loving is the Kiehl’s Cactus Flower & Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Face Mist*. It’s a cooling and hydrating mist that I use before I apply my serum both day and night.
Another skincare product that is a must for me is SPF. I don’t expose my face to the sun and I always make sure I wear SPF both under my makeup and on it’s own. Dr. Dennis Gross makes a great SPF for the face that doubles up as a tinted base that I like to wear instead of foundation called the Instant Radiance Sun Defense Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40*.
For the rest of my skincare products, they don’t change a lot, I might switch to a lighter moisturizer in summer but otherwise the other products pretty much stay the same.
Bodycare – I’m very new when it comes to self tanners so I like products that are easy to apply and you can’t really make any mistakes. There’s a new product that comes from Vita Liberata that’s pretty unique and super easy to apply. The Self Tan Dry Oil SPF 50* is a gradual sunless tanner with a luminous finish. It has a bronze finish so it helps with evening out the skin tone and it also helps with sun protection because of the high SPF. I highly recommend it to people who are just starting to get in to self tanners because it’s not that drastic and you can build up the intensity as much as you would like.
Another great product that’s great for summer from Vita Liberata is their Body Blur Instant HD Skin Finish. It’s a formula that blurs out and covers imperfections while adding radiance and instant glow and the good thing is that you can use it both on your face and your body. It’s basically a foundation for your body that also adds radiance so it’s great if you want to cover any bruises or veins on your legs.
The second body care essential for the summer is a good hydrating body cream that also smells like summer and provides a little shimmer. The Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream* is a body cream that screams summer to me. The scent is just amazing and the subtle shimmer that it gives makes your body glow. It’s on the pricy side but in my opinion worth every penny.
Haircare – I’m not very picky when it comes to my haircare routine. I just make sure I use some kind of oil on my hair since it’s curly and dry and also use a curl defining cream that also provides hydration and moisture. I’m currently using a hair oil from Ouai and I quite like it. It’s lightweight so it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling in my hair plus it doesn’t weight it down which is a big plus for me.
A great affordable curl defining cream comes from OGX and it’s from their Coconut Curls line. It’s the Frizz Defying Curl Styling Milk and it leaves my curls soft but frizz free which I prefer. It also smells of coconut which I love for summer.
When it comes to fragrance I also like to switch up my perfume and use something that’s light in summer. For every day I’ve been using the Clean Warm Cotton Breeze Body Splash*. I’m bad at describing scents so here is the description from their website:

For a nighttime perfume I like something more sensual and sexy so I’ve been reaching for the new Tom Ford Orchid Soleil perfume. It has notes of Tuberose Petals, Black Orchid, Headspace, Spider Lily Accord, Vanilla, Chestnut, Cream Accord, Patchouli.
