Buxom recently launched a new line of lipsticks called the Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipsticks. They’re claiming to have a lightweight formula with bold one stroke color in matte and satin finish.
I have to admit what draw me to these was the black sleek packaging, what can I do I’m a sucker for packaging. The packaging reminds of the Nars Audacious lipstick, it’s black and also has the same magnetic closure. The line has 29 shades and two finishes in matte and satin. The matte lipsticks have matte packaging and the packaging of the satin lipsticks is glossy.
Both have the Buxom engraving which I think adds a touch of grunge.
I picked up three shades from the 29 available in Naturally Daring (matte nude pink), Sultry Mauve (satin mauve) and Vampy Plum (matte deep plum).
Naturally Daring is described as a nude pink but in my opinion it’s more of a light bubblegum pink. It’s matte finish but it doesn’t feel drying on the lips. The only complain I have is that it emphasizes dry patches so if you have dry lips you have to make sure to exfoliate and moisturize before application. I don’t usually go for shades like this but I like this shade on me. I would probably wear it with a lipgloss on top since my lips are constantly dry.
Sultry Mauve is a pinky mauve shade in satin finish. The formula of the satin lipsticks are creamier and glossier so more comfortable to wear. I think Sultry Mauve is a great every day office shade as it’s pretty neutral. It didn’t emphasize any dry patches that I had on my lips and didn’t settle in to fine lines.
Vampy Plum is described as a dark plum in matte finish. This shade didn’t settle in to my lips as the lighter one but it was harder to apply because of the shape of the bullet so If you want precise lines you’ll have to use a lip brush. It’s a beautiful vampy shade for fall and winter that I will probably wear a lot. Like the lighter shade Vampy Plum doesn’t feel drying on the lips and is very comfortable to wear.

If I had to pick my favorite out of the three I would go with Sultry Mauve. The formula of that shade is very creamy and as I said before, perfect for every day.
