Becca recently launched two new base products, the First Light Filter Face Primer and Soft Light Blurring Setting Powder. The First Light Filter Face Primer is a primer that helps with hydration and dull skin. It’s a skin awakening primer that brightens and instantly refreshes the skin. The Soft Light Blurring Setting Powder is a loose powder that blurs pores and imperfection while adding subtle radiance to the skin.
I also received the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector which is not a new launch but I think it goes well with the rest of the products. They all help with brightening and making the skin look fresh and radiant.
As a primer lover I was really excited for the new release. I really like the Becca Backlight Filter Face Primer so I was curious to see how it compares to the new one. The Becca First Light Face Primer is actually more of a hydrating and awakening primer, while the Backlight Filter has more luminosity.
The new primer is formulated with mineral-rich spring water, prickly pear flower, and sodium hyaluronate that capture moisture to hydrate and revive skin. Ginger energizes the complexion and the fresh citrus notes create an awakening experience.
The primer looks violet but as soon as you blend it on the skin it turns sheer. It doesn’t add any tint to the skin but the cool violet lights adds brightness and make the skin look awake and refreshed. Plus the fresh citrus scent makes the application all that pleasant, especially when I use it in the morning.
I think this primer will be good for dry, normal and even combo skin. It does add plenty of hydration but it doesn’t leave the skin greasy or sticky feeling. It’s an all around great hydrating primer that you can use on it’s own or under makeup.
The Becca Soft Light Setting Powder is my new found love. I have to admit that I’ve been staying away from using powders on my skin just because I don’t need to set my makeup. My skin went from combo to normal to dry in a hot minute because of the weather change. But for testing purposes I tried the new Becca loose powder and I’ve been loving it.
I like it because the powder is super light on the skin. It doesn’t make your skin look powdery after application but it sets it very well. It also adds a subtle radiance to the skin which I prefer when it comes to powders. The shade in Golden Hour is an universal flattering shade that also blurs any imperfections while setting your makeup.
Also how cool is that packaging? I know it is not very travel friendly but I don’t usually take loose powders when I travel so I can enjoy the luxe clear packaging at home.
If you have dry skin and you still want to use some powder, the Soft Light Setting Powder will work beautifully on your skin. I can’t tell if the powder helps with oiliness since I don’t get oily through the day but for people with normal to dry skin, this works wonderful.
With spring coming, it will be all about fresh and radiant skin so I think both launches from Becca are spot on. I really don’t have any complains about both products. My skin has been loving both so they will have a permanent place in my base products collection.
