The Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer is my new obsession. I’ve been on a concealer kick lately, trying a lot of new releases. I already talked about the Tarte Shape Tape concealer and how much I like it. Well I have to say that I might like the Nars one even better.
The Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer comes in sixteen different shades (same as their Radiant Creamy Concealer) and all 16 are named the same. I picked up two shades in Canelle, described as light with peachy undertones and Custard (yellow tone for light to medium complexion).
I used to wear Custard in the Radiant Creamy Concealer but that was when I had a little tan and wasn’t as pale as I am right now. I can still use Custard but only as a spot concealer and not under the eyes.
Canelle is a good light shade but if I want to have more brightness under my eyes I would probably go with Vanilla.
As you can see the new Nars Soft Matte Concealer comes in a pot. Now I don’t usually go for concealers in a pot, I prefer to have a wand for application. But since the formula is so nice I’m glad I gave it a chance.
The concealer is described as a full coverage concealer with an oil free, ultra lightweight formula that also blurs imperfections and leaves you with a matte natural finish.
If you’re like me and don’t like tons of concealer under your eyes, you will love this concealer. The pigmentation is out of this world! I only need a tiny bit to cover my dark circles, and believe me they are not subtle.
Same goes for spot concealing. What I also like about this concealer is the finish. It’s matte but still looks natural on the skin and it also doesn’t dry out my under eye area.
Since my skin has been pretty normal with some dry patches here and there, I don’t feel the need to even set this concealer. And the good thing is, that even without using any powder I still get no creasing through the day which is hard to find when it comes to concealer.
Swatches of the Nard Soft Matte Complete Concealer L to R: Canelle, Custard
As you can see by the swatches both shades are quite similar. Canelle is a tad bit lighter than Custard and also has some peachy undertones which are good for cancelling darkness.
Since the formula is not tacky and blends really well on the skin, I bet the darker shades would make for great contour or bronzer shades. Definitely planning on trying one in the future.
I think the Nars Soft Matte Concealer has the perfect balance of being natural but also full coverage. It is like pure pigment in a pot so you will end up using less than your regular concealer that comes in a tube. I didn’t expect to love it so much but it ended up being in my top 3 concealers. Highly recommend!
