The Mac Aaliyah Collection has officially launched on maccosmetics.com! The well awaited collection reflects the star’s style and it was done thanks to the countless fans who asked Mac to honor her. As a big fan of Aaliyah, I am so glad that Mac released a collection that truly represents her.
The Mac Aaliyah Collection features everything from eyeshadow, lipsticks, lipglass and bronzer. I had the time to test everything and I have to say that the quality is there. There is not a product in the collection that doesn’t perform well. It all depends of your shade preferences and also which shades you think will suit you. Some of the lip products, I love, but some don’t suit my skin tone.
The Mac Aaliyah Collection has:
Eyeshadow x 9 in Age Ain’t Nothing
Bronzing Powder in Baby Girl
Lipsticks in Try Again, Hot Like…, More Than A Woman and Street Thing
Lipglass in Brooklyn Born, Li Li’s Motor City, At Your Best You Are…, 1 in A Milion
Lip Pencil in Follow Your Heart and Nevermore
The Eyeshadow x 9 in Age Ain’t Nothing features moody deep neutral shades. There is a good variety of neutral shades but also some cool toned silver and purple. The pigmentation on all shades is excellent and they perform really well on the eyes.
There are two matte shades, one satin that is a good crease shade and six shimmers. The shades that come in the palette are:
Lovesmoke (sterling silver) (VLXP)
Magic Moore (black with silver sparkle) (VLXP)
Care 4 You (mauve plum with subtle shimmer) (lustre)
Creative Copper (metallic gold) (lustre)
That Somebody (gold brown with gold shimmer) (satin)
Princes of Soul (muted golden brown) (matte)
Deception (cool medium brown) (frost)
Gingersnap (muted pinky coral) (frost)
Dance In the Dark (deep cool brown) (matte)
Swatches of the Eyeshadow x 9 palette in Age Ain’t Nothing
The Bronzing Powder in Baby Girl is a sheer golden tone bronzer with pearl finish. It gives a beautiful subtle glow on the skin without being too shimmery. The bronzer has a buildable formula so it is very easy to work with. You can go as subtle or as bronzed as you like by layering. I think the shade will work well for people with fair, light and medium skin tones. If you are deeper, I think the shade would be more of a subtle glowy powder.

Bottom line, it is another great limited edition collection from Mac. The collection will probably sell out very fast as there are a lot of fans of Aaliyah out there. As for favorites, I really like the lipsticks in Hot Like… and More Than A Woman, the Lipglass in Li Li’s Motor City, Bronzing Powder and the Eyeshadow x 9 Palette.
