I had the pleasure of being invited to a Sephora event here in Miami Beach, the event was this Saturday March 14th at the Dream South Beach Hotel and it goes up to today March 15th from 12-6pm.
Sephora launched 25 contour palettes that are exclusive to them so they wanted to share the knowledge of proper contouring with everyone. You get a one on one makeup class with the Sephora Pro makeup artist so you’ll learn all the steps to achieve the perfect contoured face.
My beauty expert was Maricela. She first identified my face shape, for info I have a heart-shaped face and she told me that I have to focus on the sides of the forehead, showed me where to contour my cheeks and the tip of my chin. I’ve watched a lot of youtube videos on how to contour but the problem with those is that not everyone has the same face shape so if a contour technique works for one person it will not work for another. Depending on your face shape the contour techniques will be different.
She first used the Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring Palette and the highlighter pencil from the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Stick Trio. She said that if you want your makeup to last longer it’s nice to use cream products and then set them with powders.
Then she followed up with the Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit and as a powder highlighter she used Becca Cosmetics Moonstone.
I was amazed by the results. It seems that you’re using a lot of products but when it’s applied properly and in moderation you get a perfect natural looking defined face.
If you’re in the Miami area I highly recommend you check out the event, it’s from 12-6pm today March 15th, no RSVP needed. The event is on the roof top by the pool so you get to sip some cocktails while learning about contouring and getting a makeover, for me that’s a perfect day :).
If you can’t make it to the event you can go today to your nearest Sephora store where they offer the same classes. Sephora also launched their Sephora Pocket Contour Class, a mobile-only experience. With your browser on your phone you go to m.sephora.com/pocketcontour, select your face shape, snap a photo of yourself and Sephora will recommend contour powders and creams that will suit you. Pretty neat right?
