This particular palette is lovely for when you want to feel extra glamorous. It’s a luxurious finishing powder that makes your skin look flawless. I don’t think you need a finishing powder for an every day use as it adds a step to the whole make up routine, and nobody’s got time for that :). But when you have a special occasion or you just want to add that extra something to your look you should try this palette.
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette contains three of the powder shades, Dim Light and Radiant Light are from the permanent line and a new limited shade to this palette called Incandescent Light. I think this is a good way to try the powders before you decide if you want to buy the full sized individual powders. For me I think I will stick with this palette as I don’t think I will ever hit pan on either of them.
Dim Light is described as a neutral peach beige powder. The main purpose of this powder is to blur imperfections. I use it all over the face after I set my make up for that perfect skin look.
Incandescent Light is described as a pearlescent powder. It’s a little more shimmery from the other powders so I use it when I want a subtle glow. You can use it as an under eye brightener and face highlighter as it doesn’t emphasize pores.
Radian light is described as a golden beige powder. The purpose of this shade is to add subtle warmth to the face. For my medium skin tone it doesn’t work as a bronzer but it would be perfect for paler complexions.
These powders are not meant to be used as setting powders, especially for those who are on the oilier side as they will not keep you matte. They’re meant to be used as finishing powders to blur out imperfections and add a subtle glow to the face.
Do I think it’s a necessity? Probably not. But it’s a nice luxury product to try.
The palette is available for $58 at Sephora.com or hourglasscosmetics.com.
