I recently went to the drugstore to see if they had any new collections in their makeup department and I stumbled upon the Revlon Photoready Eye Art . It’s a combination of a cream eyeshadow and glitter that you can use on your lids, lashes and as a liner.
They had a variety of shades and really bright colors but I went with the safe ones, colors that I know I will wear daily so I picked up Burnished Bling ( coppery bronze shade with copper sparkle) and Peach Prism ( peachy-champagne with peach glitter).
I tested them with and without using a primer and unfortunately both times they were lacking in the lasting power. The first time I wanted to see if I can get a full on color so I applied a heavy coat of the cream eyeshadow and I got a very nice metallic look. After two hours I could see cracks on my eyelids and some crumbling so that didn’t work out at all.
The second time I tried them blended out, so I applied a little bit of the cream eyeshadow blended with my fingers and I got a really nice flush of color. The cream eyeshadow lasted around five hours and after that I could see some fading and creasing on my eyelids. I did the same application using a primer underneath but that didn’t help and I got the same wear.
The glitter on the other hand worked out great. I used it both as a liner and over an eyeshadow and it did last a long time and it did not crumble. Make sure you don’t apply heavy coats of the glitter otherwise it will crumble and come off in one piece.
I really wanted to like these eyeshadows cause the pigmentation and colors are gorgeous, the swatches shown above are only from one swipe. So my though is if you really like the colors and you’re willing to try different techniques and see what works for you these are gorgeous but if you don’t want to bother and you want to get a quick look I would pass on these.
I will continue to try different application methods and see if I’m doing something wrong cause I really like the colors.
