The summer is almost over and as I’m excited for fall and all that it brings (boots, scarves and dark lipsticks), I will miss the warm breezy days that we have here in Colorado. August has been a great month for new beauty releases, I can’t believe that we’re already having a preview of all the Holiday collections.
I tested so many new good products that it was hard to narrow down my beauty favorites. With a lot of contemplating here are best of the best:
Base
I couldn’t pick just one foundation so I had to include the two that I love and used a lot in the month of August. First, the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick, a stick foundation with medium to full coverage with a very natural almost skin line finish. The other foundation is the total opposite since it’s water based. The MAKE UP FOR EVER Water Blend foundation is perfect for all those people who like light coverage but the good thing is that the foundation is buildable and still looks like skin after applying couple of layers plus it’s waterproof so perfect for the warmer months.
Eyes
I have two MAC products that made it in to my favorites. The MAC Pressed Pigment Eyeshadow in To Boldly Go that’s part of their LE Star Trek collection is a one stop swipe eyeshadow, I just put a little bit all over the lid, blend it in to the crease and I get a really nice wash of coppery sparkly color. The other MAC product is the Pro Beyond Twisted Lash Mascara, a very unique looking mascara that has a flexible wand and can bend up to 90 degree angle. Because of the customizable wand the mascara can reach the hard to get inner corner lashes and also can be used on the bottom lashes. It’s flake free and gives me volume and holds a curl, everything that I want in a mascara.
Cheeks
Marc Jacobs Air Blush in Flesh & Fantasy was on repeat for the past month. It’s a neutral bronze blush that gives a nice glow to the cheeks without any shimmer. It literally goes with every makeup look! I actually received the whole collection of blushes so I’m planning on a swatch blog post that will probably be up next week.
Lips
I haven’t tried any beauty products from Milk Makeup until I got the Lip Salve that’s an exclusive to Urban Outfitters. It’s a lip balm that contains natural oils and shea butter that help with soothing and hydration and has a hint of rosy color with a fresh lavender scent. It’s very hydrating and feels very nice on the lips so it’s perfect for people with dry and chapped lips.
Bite Beauty launched a new product this past month and I have to say that it’s pretty awesome. The Multistick is a cream product that you can use on your lips, cheeks and eyes. I love a good multipurpose product from when I’m in a hurry and the Multisticks are perfect for creating a quick makeup look. I especially love the shade in Blondie, described as a nude taupe. I will have a blog post with all 18 shades swatched hopefully by next week.
Skincare
The Dr. Dennis Gross Clinical Concentrate Hydration Booster is literally moisture in a bottle. If you have dehydrated or dry skin I highly recommend this product as it has helped tremendously with my dry patches. I use it before I apply my moisturizer and it just instantly adds glow to my skin and makes it super soft.
Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm is a multitasking eye balm that’s formulated with Alguronic Acid, Vitamin C, Caffeine, Cucumber, Aloe and Green Tea Extract. I’m very picky when it comes to my eye cream, I have dry under eye area so I need something that’s super hydrating but also not greasy and the Algenist eye cream is just that. It provides moisture to the under eye area and sits well under makeup and since it has caffeine and Vitamin C it helps with puffiness and dark circles.
Now tell me what have you been loving for the month of August. Are you excited for fall?
