Sundays are reserved for at home pampering and face masking. With being so busy and being a mom of two it’s very hard to find time to go to a salon. Instead I reserve my at home pampering for masks that I can use in the comfort of my home. I received the new The Body Shop face masks and I’ve been doing some multi masking while testing them out.
They released three face masks that are 100% vegan and two other masks that are paraben free.
The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is a 100% vegan exfoliating mask. It helps with deep cleansing, purifies clogged pores and leaves you with a nice glow. The key ingredients are:
- Bamboo Charcoal from Himalayan foothills
- Community Trade Tea Tree Oil from Kenya
- Green Tea Leaves from Japan
How to use:
• After removing makeup and cleansing the skin, use the Facial Mask Brush (you can also use your fingers) to smooth an even layer of the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask onto the face avoiding eye and lip area
• Apply to neck and décolletage if desired
• Leave for 5-10 minutes then rinse off with warm water and a muslin cloth in circular motions to gently exfoliate
• Use 2 to 3 times a week

This mask reminds me of the GlamGlow Supermud which I really like to use for deep cleansing. It has the same tiny bits that help with exfoliation and you get the same results. If you have problems with clogged pores and congested skin this mask helps. I can notice a difference especially in the area where my pores are visible, my skin appears cleaner and more refreshed after every use. Since the mask is a cleansing one it works better for combination, oily to normal skin. If you have dry skin it might feel too drying.
The Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask is a creamy clarifying mask that brightens and revitalizes the skin. Ginseng tones and has boosting properties. It helps with brightness and removes dullness and uneven skin tone while minimizing pores and smoothing the skin. The key ingredients are:
- Ginseng and Rice Extract from China
- Community Trade Sesame Seed Oil from Nicaragua

The Chinese Ginseng and Rice mask is more gentle on the skin that the clay mask. It’s still good for exfoliation and cleansing and it also doesn’t strip the skin. It would be perfect for all skin types that need a purifying and an exfoliating mask in one.
The Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask is a nourishing honey based mask which helps nourish and hydrate the skin. It works to retain moisture, improves skin elasticity and prevents dryness. The key ingredients are:
- Community Trade Honey from Ethiopia
- Community Trade Marula Oil from Namibia
- Community Trade Olive Oil from Italy
How to use:

If you have dry or dehydrated skin you will love this mask. It feels very nourishing on the skin and leaves the skin moisturized. It also smells delicious of honey.
The British Rose Fresh Plumping Face Mask is a 100% vegan nourishing and hydrating mask. It helps with moisture and also soothes and tones the skin. The aloe vera provides calming properties and the rose petals provide gentle exfoliation. The key ingredients are:
- Rose petals and essence of hand-picked roses from Britain
- Rosehip oil from Chile
- Community Trade Aloe Vera from Mexico

The Amazonian Acai Energizing Radiance mask is 100% vegan exfoliating gel mask that revives and energizes the skin. It’s rich in antioxidants and vitamins that keep the skin healthy and clear. The key ingredients are:
- Acai berry
- Guarana seed extract
- Community Trade Babassu Oil from Brazil

I would recommend this mask for all skin types that need some boost and gentle exfoliation. Since it’s a gel type mask it feels very light on the skin and again the smell is amazing. The gel type masks from this line feel and look like jam and they all smell amazing and so yummy.
Depending on your skin needs you can pick and choose which masks suits you the best. For me, I mostly reach for the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask when I need deep cleansing and I also like using the British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask on areas that I need more moisture and hydration. The Body Shop also sells small packets of most of the masks that I mention which are a good way of trying a mask before you invest in a full size.
