Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipsticks are a waterproof liquid lipstick with intense pigmentation but also comfortable to wear. What sets them apart from other liquid lipsticks is that they are transfer proof but still have a non drying formula. They come in two finishes, comfort matte and metallized. With 30 shades to choose from, they offer a variety of colors.
As the claims say, the formula is very comfortable to wear. The comfort matte formula is pigmented and glides really nicely on the lips but it doesn’t set very fast. In fact it takes around 3 minutes for the formula to completely dry. So when you apply, make sure not to rub your lips together until the lipstick sets otherwise it will transfer. You can also build up the formula if you need to but be careful not to apply too much product because you will probably get product buildup and the lipstick will not set.
I didn’t have a problem with most of the colors when it came to pigmentation. With most shades you only need one layer to achieve full coverage. I did have to go back and touch up with the darker shades like Blackmail, just to make sure the application looked even.
As for the Vice Liquid Lipsticks with a metallic finish I had some trial and error. It seems that the formula of the metallic liquid lipsticks separates in the tube so if you don’t swirl the wand before application you will not get even pigment. Otherwise as you will see by the swatches the colors are all pigmented and apply nicely. Well except of one shade. Flame, which is a beautiful bright orange with gold micro glitter did not perform like the rest. I felt that it didn’t have full on pigment like the others. It actually looked like I have a sheer orange shimmer lipgloss on my lips which is not the case with the other shade.
Since this is part of the Vice line, most of the shades that are available in lipstick form now we have in liquid lipsticks. Also just a heads up some of the shades appear glossy on the swatches because I was swatching fast and didn’t wait for them to dry down. Since they are a waterproof formula if I waited for them to dry, it would be very hard to swatch 25 shades on my lips. They dry down to a complete matte finish and don’t have any gloss.
THE NUDES AND NEUTRALS (Comfort Matte Finish)
Naked (nude pink)
Brat (warm baby pink)
Backtalk (mauve nude pink)
Rapture (dusty rose)
1993 (medium brown)
Swatches L to R: Naked, Brat, Backtalk, Rapture, 1993

From the neutral shades, Rapture and 1993 were a little harder to work with. I had to go back and even out the color so the coverage looked even. But since they layer very well and don’t dry super fast it is easy to go back and correct any spots that you missed.
THE PURPLES AND PINKS (Comfort matte finish)
Twitch (soft purple with blue undertone)
Pandemonium (bright purple)
Crank (bright berry fuchsia)
ZZ (soft pink-purple)
Menace (medium fuchsia pink)
Swatches L to R: Twitch, Pandemonium, Crank, ZZ, Menace

The purples and pinks were super easy to work with. You get full on pigment with one swipe and as you can see by the swatches they are definitely a statement lip.
THE REDS AND VAMPY (Comfort Matte finish)
Tilt (bright orange)
Tryst (red fuchsia)
Crimson (rich red)
714 (bright red)
Disturbed (deep brick red)
Blackmail (deep berry wine)
Swatches L to R: Tilt, Tryst, 714, Crimson, Disturbed, Blackmail

The reds in the collection are amazing! They deliver even coverage with one swipe, dry out evenly and as soon as they set, they don’t budge. The two vampy shades in Disturbed and Blackmail are also nice but you do need to go back and touch up any spots that are not covered with one swipe to get an even look. This happens with a lot of vampy shades. I’m not sure if it’s the darkness of the shades but sometimes you need two coats to get even coverage. Otherwise all shades wore really well without any cracking.
THE METALLICS (Metallized finish)
Flame (bright orange with gold micro glitter)
Trivial (pink nude) – this is listed as a comfort matte finish on UD’s website but since it has a metallic feel I decided to include it in the metallics.
Amulet (brick rose) – this is listed as a comfort matte finish on UD’s website but since it has a metallic feel I decided to include it in the metallics.
Big Bang (bright pink sparkle)
Firebird (deep fuchsia) -this is listed as a comfort matte finish on UD’s website but since it has a metallic feel I decided to include it in the metallics.
Trap Queen (bright red with gold shimmer)
Mad (bright purple shimmer)
Studded (metallic gray-brown)
Conspiracy (plum bronze shimmer)

At first when I swatched the metallic shades I though I would not like the formula since they seemed watery and not as pigmented as the matte shades. But then I figured out that the formula separates in the tube and as soon as I swirled the wand, I got the pigment that I wanted. Except of Flame, the rest needed only one swipe for full coverage. With Flame I did two coats and it still wasn’t as full coverage as I would like.
Urban Decay has total of 30 shades on their website and 5 are their exclusives.
Every time I try a new formula of liquid lipsticks I get more and more impressed. Back in the day when liquid lipsticks started to get popular you couldn’t find a formula that will be transfer proof but also non drying.
But these days a lot of makeup companies are making that possible. The Urban Decay Vice Liquid lipsticks have everything that I’m looking for in a liquid lipstick. They are waterproof, transfer proof, don’t dry my lips and also don’t accentuate and settle in to fine lines. My favorite shades include Naked, Backtalk, Tilt, 714, Crimson ad Trap Queen.
Hope the swatches help if you were looking in to picking up a shade or two.
