Yup there is a new Naked palette in town. The Urban Decay Naked palettes are a cult product among beauty lovers. I think if you’re a makeup lover you probably own one of the Naked palettes or probably own them all.
I own the original Naked palette which is a warm bronze palette, the Naked 2 palette which has cooler tones but also some bronze and warm shades. I skipped on Naked 3 since I don’t wear a lot of rosy tones but I couldn’t resist the Naked Smoky palette.
First let’s talk about the packaging. The UD Naked Smoky palette has grey see-through smoky packaging that’s plastic and feels very sturdy and well made. It has a magnetic closure and a huge mirror that comes very useful when you travel. I think the packaging of this palette is my favorite, it’s just beautiful.
The palette has 12 shades and three different finishes. I like how they grouped the shadows by finish. First you get the four shimmer shades then you get four satin finish shades and the last four are the matte shades.
I also like that the more shimmery shades are the more neutral shades, the smoky shades are satin finish which I prefer when I do a smoky eye.
Like all UD Naked palettes the pigmentation of the eyeshadows is pretty consistent. Like in the previous palettes you get the most pigment out of the shimmery shades. The matte shades pack little less pigment but I think that helps since I mostly use the matte shades as transition shades.
The palette also comes with a double sided brush, on one side it’s a blending brush and the other it’s a smudge brush. I like the brush but you will need probably one more brush to do a look since you’re missing a brush for packing color on your lids.
So here is the verdict, I really like this palette. I think it’s actually one of my favorite Naked palettes because I find it more versatile than the others. The Naked palette is nice but all the shades are just different shades of brown and bronze. I never warmed up to the Naked 2 palette, not sure why but I’ll probably just give it away since I hardly every use it.
When it comes to the Naked Smoky palette, you can do an every day neutral look, a bronze golden look, a dark smoky look, even a purple smoky look. I think the palette is a pretty mix of warm and cool toned eyeshadows.
