The highlighting trend is still going strong and not going anywhere for a long time. I love a good highlighter and own more than I need but as soon as I see a new one that’s pretty different from everything I have I just have to have it. One of the more unique highlighters in my stash is the Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo in Moodlight.
It’s a highlighting and illuminating powder duo that Tom Ford created to capture the two most flattering types of natural light, a soft white shade like the luminous light of daylight and a radiant golden shade like the illusion of candlelight.
Like with every Tom Ford beauty product the packaging is his classic luxurious compact with brown and gold and his name engraved in the middle. The packaging of the illuminator is actually the same as his eyeshadow quads and it is the exacts same size.
The two powders are equally beautiful and suit my light to medium skin tone. The lighter shade on the top is a beautiful luminous white powder that looks very natural on the skin. I would compare the finish as the Hourglass strobe light powders meaning it gives a natural no shimmer highlighting to the skin.
The darker powder appears more of a rose gold shade on my skin and makes for a great illuminating blush for my skin tone. When I get a tan in summer I would use it as a blush topper or as a highlighter depending how dark I am. You can also layer the two powders if you want to create a multidimensional glow.
The texture of the powders is like nothing I have. It doesn’t have the same texture and feel like the other highlighters in my collection. You know that soft and buttery texture that kicks off a lot of powder when you put your brush in the pan and have to be careful not to over apply. The texture of the powders is pretty tightly packed and you can easily swirl your brush and not worry about getting more than you need. The powder is very smooth and doesn’t look like you have a powder highlighter on your skin, it just looks like you’re glowing without any noticeable shimmer.

As you can see by the swatches these are more subtle than your regular highlighter which I prefer for daytime. Sometimes when you apply a regular highlighter it just looks too harsh and not natural during the day so I tend to reach for more subtle options.
This duo is on the pricy side but you do get a lot of product for your money and the product itself is beautiful.
