One of my favorite lip pencil formula comes from Mac. They have a great variety of shades, 41 shades to be exact that range from nude to dark vampy plum shades.
What I love about the Mac lip pencils is that the formula is creamy but not that creamy so it smudges. Because of the dryer formula the lip pencils last forever. You can use them for lining or you can even use them as a lip shade and completely fill out your lips. As a lip shade they can be a little drying but you can always apply a lip balm or lip gloss over top and you’re good to go.
I own three neutral shades from the line and of course they’re the most talked about shades in the beauty world. Somehow all the talk and hype always gets me when it comes to Mac but when there’s a hype about a product that much they’re mostly right.
Mac Soar is described as a mid tone pinkish brown. It’s a beautiful mauve shade with a touch of brown. I like to pair this with Mac Mehr lipstick to get that pinky mauve shade that’s perfect for fall.
Mac Whirl is described as a dirty rose shade. It’s darker than Soar and has more brown. Whirl I think it’s the most popular lip liner of them all since a certain someone said that she used it to create her signature lip shade.
Mac Spice is described as a pink cinnamon stick. This shade is pretty unique to me because it has pink, brown and orange tones. It’s a great lip liner to use with brown toned lipsticks but also works with pinky nudes if you want to darken the look.
Swatches L to R: Mac Soar, Mac Whirl, Mac Spice
When you look at the swatches you can see that they’re all pretty neutral shades that you can wear with a lot of different shades of nude, pinky nude, mauve and even pink lipstick shades.
Now tell me what’s your favorite Mac neutral lip liner?
