Who doesn’t love a good glowy base? I’ve been obsessed with everything glowy, no matter if it’s a highlighter, primer or foundation I want all the glow that I can get. The glow that I’m after is the natural, lit in within glow, not the one that makes you look like a disco ball. It’s just a glow that you can wear every day but also enhance and wear when you go out.
Becca Cosmetics is known for their pretty highlighters in every form that there is. They do liquid, cream and powders and they do them good. Recently they came out with an illuminating primer and a glowy base so naturally I was all for it.
The Becca Backlight Priming Filter is a makeup primer that claims to blur out imperfections and give you a radiant glow. It acts like an instant filter, creating a soft focused radiance on your face, it catches the light perfectly.
While I didn’t notice any blurring effects this primer gives you the most beautiful radiant glow without having any shimmer. It just makes you look healthy and glowy like you just came out from a nice and relaxing spa treatment. I don’t find it particularly very hydrating so if you have dry skin you probably need to moisturize before application but for those with normal and oily skin this is perfect because it’s not going to make you more oily.
I like to wear this under my foundation but sometimes I also wear it on it’s own. It just makes my skin look healthy and well rested which is a look that I’m always after.
I used to use the Becca Moonstone liquid highlighter when I wanted to add some glow to my foundation but that combo was too glowy to wear during the day so the Backlight Priming Filter has replaced it place. It’s a more subtle version so it’s great to use day or night.
The other glowy product that Becca added to their line is the Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation. It’s a water based foundation that provides light to medium coverage, it’s very lightweight and has a luminous finish. The packaging is very similar to the primer but instead of a pump it has a dropper which makes it very easy to control the amount of product.
You have to shake the bottle pretty good before you take out any foundation out and then twist the cap and it will pop out. You push the cap couple of times to get product in the dropper and then you twist it and you’re good to go.
I usually put couple of drops of foundation on the back of my hand and then I use a buffing brush or a sponge for application. I prefer the lighter coverage but the foundation is buildable to a medium coverage if you need it.
The finish is very glowy but without looking greasy. It wore well for around eight hours without fading or moving. I do recommend setting the foundation on places that you produce more oil. That said if you have extremely oily skin I would not recommend this foundation, since it’s very dewy you will probably look more oily through the day. I think this is perfect for people with dry to normal or combination skin. Of course if you have combo skin always set your foundation so it lasts longer.
The only complain I have about this foundation is the shade range. There are only eight available shades and they’re all on the darker side. For reference I have the shade in Beige which is the third from the lightest and meant for Light to Medium skin tones with neutral undertones.
If you’re looking for the ultimate glowy base look no further. Combining the Becca Backlight Priming Filter and the Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation will give you the perfect glow goddess look and skin that looks healthy and luminous without any shimmer.
