Well that took me forever. Better late then never right? It was harder to pick and choose my skincare favorites than my makeup favorites and that’s why this post is kinda late. I tried so many good skincare the past 2017.
Here are my most reached for skincare products for 2017:
Cleansers
Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cleanser – I can’t find this cleanser anywhere online. I heard that they are changing the packaging since a lot of people had problems with the product separating in the tube. But besides that flaw, the formula of this cleanser is amazing for dry skin. It really manages to clean your skin and also leave it moisturized after cleansing. Hope the cleanser re-appears because I’m almost out of it.
Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser – A gel to balm formula that is gentle but still manages to remove all my makeup. I really like the balm cleanser that comes in the tub but I think this version is more travel friendly. The balm cleanser doesn’t strip the skin and has good for your skin ingredients like essential oil blend of clove, eucalyptus, hops, and chamomile oil and a high dose of shea butter and grapeseed oil.
Essence
Kat Burki PH+Enzyme Essence – The essence protects your skin from environmental toxins, prevents breakouts, exfoliates, brightens and illuminates while also helping the other skincare you apply after, work better. It has Ph balancing ingredients and enzymes that help with exfoliation and it’s a pleasure to apply on the skin.
(not pictured) the Tatcha The Essence is also a great option if you are looking to implement an essence in your skincare routine.
Serum
Estee Lauder ANR – I’m not sure how many bottles I’ve used from this wonderful serum. It is a cult favorite for a reason. It is an anti-aging serum that fights fine lines and wrinkles, dullness and even dry skin. I can see a difference in my skin after one use which says a lot about a serum.
Sunday Riley Good Genes – A lactic acid treatment that addresses fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, texture and uneven skin. I use this at night as a serum and when I wake up my skin looks brighter, clearer and even my pores look smaller. It is pricy but it works.
Kat Burki Reti -C Treatment Complex – A combination of Vitamin C and Rovisome which is the less invasive and more effective form of Retinol. It’s one of the best Retinol products I’ve tried that doesn’t break me out or make my skin red or sensitive. Vitamin C has proven to increase the efficiency of the Retinol so it helps the Retinol penetrate deeper in to the skin, which allows for maximum anti-aging benefits. Highly recommend!
Elemis Peptide Night Recovery Cream Oil – This is more of a hybrid between a moisturizer and oil but I use it as a serum and layer with a moisturizer whenever my skin feels extra dry. It is rich in Omega 3, Vitamin E and anti-oxidants that help the skin recover overnight.
Eye Cream
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix – One of the best eye creams I’ve tried. It literally does everything! De-puffs, hydrates and makes your under eye look smoother. If you have problems with dry under eye area definitely get a sample to try.
Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Dew It All Eye Gel – This is a newer product for me but I had to mention it since it was an instant love. When I read the description as dewy, smooth and hydrated, I was sure that I will love this eye cream, and I was right. Another good one if you have dryness under the eyes.
Moisturizer
Tatcha The Water Cream – Hands down my most used moisturizer for the past year. It is a water based anti-aging moisturizer that never feels greasy or heavy on the skin. It works great for my normal skin and gives me enough moisture so I don’t get dry patches that often. It also sits well under makeup so I can use it both day and night.
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Glow Moistuizer – When my skin feels dry, this is the moisturizer I reach for. It has a duo of AHA, glycolic and lactic acids, pineapple, pumpkin and papaya enzymes that all help with radiance. It is very hydrating and as the name implies, it gives a beautiful glow to the skin. Sometimes, I even use it as a primer whenever I need extra moisture. Pure love for this moisturizer.
La Mer Creme de la Mer – This is an ultra rich cream that I also use when I need extra moisture. I got the smallest size to try before I invest in the bigger tub since the cream is on the pricy side. I like to use this as a primer before my foundation when I like to achieve a dewy look but also as a night cream.
Mask
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask – After trying a sample of this mask, I had to get it. After one use my skin looked clearer, pores looked smaller and I was left with a radiant glow. The mask has two natural sources of BHA that provide gentle exfoliation, fruit enzymes that cleanse the skin and refine the pores while leaving the skin radiant.
Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask With Rose Clay – Made with Mediterranean rose clay, Canadian willow herb, and exfoliating jojoba beads, it helps gently deep clean while refining skin’s texture. As with the other mask, it cleans the skin but also leaves you with a glow so it doesn’t strip the skin of it’s natural oils.
In 2017 I also got really in to using sheet masks. I love using them since they are a quicker and less messy option to your usual mask. I would say, they are a mask for the lazy girl. I even use a hydrating sheet mask when I travel since planes dry my skin even more. There are so many affordable and also expensive options on the market that I couldn’t pick one to include in this post. Let me know if you would like a blog post on my favorite sheet masks.
An honorable mention to the Origins Super Spot Remover Blemish Treatment Gel, the only spot treatment I reach for whenever I have a breakout or two. It has salicylic acid that helps reduce the redness and size of the blemish without leaving your spot dry.
Another great skincare product that is also an extra step that I don’t mind is the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. I use this mist to add hydration to the skin before I apply my essence, but I also use it over my foundation to add more glow to my base.
What were your most used skincare products of 2017? Anything that I need to try?
