The Mac Shadescents are six superb scents that are inspired by Mac’s most iconic lipstick shades. From the blue based beautiful red in Ruby Woo to the sexy purple in Heroine, there is a scent for every taste and with matching lipsticks. I’ve been testing all six scents since they launched and I got some scents that I like and some that I love.
The Mac Shadescents come in six shades:
Creme D’ Nude
Velvet Teddy
Candy Yum Yum
Lady Danger
Ruby Woo
My Heroine
Creme D’ Nude is Mac’s most popular pale nude. Described as a pale muted peach beige in cremesheen finish, it’s one of those nudes that goes really well with a smoky eye. It is a pale nude so suited for lighter skin tones but I think with the right eye makeup even if you’re darker you can pull it off. The lipstick is part of the permanent line but it was released in LE packaging with the Shadecents collection.
The Shadescent in Creme D’ Nude is described as a clean scent that mimics glowy skin with notes of velvet and amber musk. It’s clean and spicy in one and lasts all day on my skin. It’s one of my favorite scents from the line. If you like musky scents this is a good one to try.
Velvet Teddy is one of my favorite nudes from MAC. Described as a deep tone beige nude in a matte finish, it’s the perfect my lips but better nude for medium skin tones. It’s also part of the permanent line but released in LE packaging for the collection.
The Shadescent in Velvet Teddy has notes of wild honey and creamy musk. It’s a warm oriental fragrance that has some sweet notes but it’s not overpowering. Velvet Teddy is my second favorite scent from the line. You can really smell the notes of honey with a mix of vanilla. It’s cozy and warm and perfect for the colder months.
Candy Yum Yum is a bright neon pink shade in matte finish. Pink shades don’t suit me and neon pinks are not my cup of tea but I applaud people who can pull them off.
On the other hand the Shadescent in Candy Yum Yum is lovely. As the name applies it is sweet but still very wearable. It’s a fruity scent with notes of pink guava, cotton candy and pineapple. It’s a fun and bubbly scent that will appeal to a younger audience and people who like sweet scents like Prada Candy.
Lady Danger is my all time favorite lipstick. I love wearing orange reds and I find that Lady Danger suits my skin tone the best. It’s described as a vivid bright coral red in matte finish. On me, it’s a bright orange red with warm undertones.
The Shadescent in Lady Danger has notes of golden patchouli and described as woody floriental. It’s a sexy scent and one of those scent that can pass for a unisex. On my skin I can really smell the woody notes and the floral come in second.
Ruby Woo is a cult favorite for a reason. It’s one of the most beautiful blue based reds that I own. This is the type of red that suits most skin tones and makes your teeth look super white. It’s described as a vivid blue red in retro matte finish. It’s super matte so very long lasting on the lips.
The Shadescent in Ruby Woo is described as woody floral. It has notes of leather and roses. It has both feminine and masculine notes that compliment each other. I would say this can also pass as a unisex scent as the leather notes are quite there.
Heroine is a beautiful bright purple in a matte finish. It’s one of the first purple lipsticks that I purchased. I think this purple is very wearable so even if you’re afraid of color you should try it.
The Shadescent in My Heroine is the most masculine scent in the line. It has notes of cordovan leather and I can even smell tobacco. This scent reminds me of Tom Ford perfumes. It has the same expensive smelling notes of wood and leather. Very different from everything that I have but I still like it.
I think Mac did a great job with the scent selection. They’re all very unique but wearable fragrances. You get the quality and smell of high-end perfumes but with a more affordable price.
All six MAC Shadescents come in 1.7 oz bottles and are priced at $57. The accompanied lipsticks are limited edition and $17 each.
