The Mac Powder Kiss Lipsticks line is a new formula by the brand. They are described as moisture-matte lipstick that has a weightless feeling on the lips and gives a blurring effect. There are 16 shades in the line with beautiful nudes and neutrals to bold and vampy shades.
The formula is like no other I’ve tried. It is matte but not thick. It has a creamy feeling on the lips but it is still a semi matte finish. Compared to the matte lipstick formula from Mac, these are creamier but also lighter on the lips. The lighter shades are not super pigmented and those are the shades that give a blotted look on the lips. With the bold and more colorful shades, you get good pigmentation so to achieve the blotted soft focus look, I either use a paper towel or just use my fingers to soften the edges.
The packaging of the Mac Powder Kiss Lipsticks is also different from the other Mac lipsticks. They are still the signature Mac black packaging but these have a soft touch matte finish. The bullet also looks like velvet at first look.
As i mentioned before, the nudes and more neutral shades are not super pigmented. They give a blurred, soft effect on the lips with one swipe. Some of the super light shades accentuate dryness on the lips so it is good to exfoliate before application. The bold and vampy shades in the line have one swipe pigment and they don’t accentuate any dryness at all.

As you can see by the swatches, most of the shades are stunning on the lips. The only shade that I didn’t like is the shade in Best of Me. That one is super light so it’s not very flattering on my skin tone but it also catches on every dry patch that you have on the lips. I’m guessing they created that shade to either mix with other shades or for very fair skin tones.
For shade favorites I really like most of the shades from the line. If I have to pick my top 5, I would go with: Mandarin O, Style Shocked!, Devoted To Chili, Burning Love and Mull It Over, which is my perfect “my lips, but better” nude.
The blurred blotted lips look is right on trend this season. I think the blotted look looks very modern but also makes the bold and darker shades more wearable. With the Mac Powder Kiss Lipsticks you don’t really need to be that precise with application since you’ll end up blurring the edges. You also don’t have to worry about lipstick smearing since these are very lightweight and stay in place. The creamy matte weightless formula makes them very easy to wear and very comfortable for a matte lipstick. Big thumbs up from me!
