Bobbi Brown released a new foundation about a month ago. The Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation comes in amazing range of 30 shades. It promises full coverage and a natural matte finish. It has SPF 15 and it is a 16 hour wear foundation.
I don’t usually go for matte foundations unless it’s a special occasion. I find that if you have normal or dry skin, a natural glowy finish works better with the skin type. Unfortunately a dewy finish means not a lot of wear time so a natural matte foundation is the way to go if you’re looking for something that will last you all day.
There are not a lot of matte finish foundations that work with my normal skin (currently on the dry side because of the winter weather). But that is not the case with the new Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation. It is indeed weightless and you almost can’t feel that you are wearing anything on your skin. The finish is natural matte but still skin like. The foundation also doesn’t catch on dryness, texture or accentuate any imperfections.
It leaves a beautiful natural finish on the skin but still provides good coverage. I would say the coverage is a good medium but buildable. I also like to sheer it out for a more natural look by using a damp sponge for application.
I wear the shade in Beige 3 which is my perfect match for my light to medium skin tone. Because of the matte finish, I like to use a hydrating primer to prep my skin. The foundation is listed for normal, oil and combo skin but I can still use it even when my skin feels on the dry side. Of course you have to prep your skin really well before as with every matte foundation.
I recently also picked up the new Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm in Golden Glow. It’s an illuminating and moisturizing primer with skincare benefits. It provides both hydration and a beautiful glow to the skin without making it greasy. I like to use this as a primer before my foundation but also to mix a pump with my foundation to add some glow and sheer it out.
I find the texture of the Moisture Balm a little thicker than Mac Strobe Cream and the Morning Aura from Estee Lauder. It also provides more pigment and glow so you can even use it as a subtle highlight.

And lastly, another product that I’ve been enjoying from the brand, are the Crushed Lip Colors. These launched last year and I picked up two shades as soon as they did. They are lipsticks that give a stain effect to the lips and are very comfortable to wear.
I got the shades in Bare (soft pink beige) and Telluride (red mauve). Both shades give a bitten look to the lips and are super lightweight. They have buildable pigment, so you can go as sheer or as bold as you would like.

Bottom line, I’ve been really enjoying all new releases from Bobbi Brown. I highly recommend the foundation for someone who is looking for a long-wear base but with a natural finish and great coverage. Also the Crushed Lip Colors have been my go to, no fuss lipsticks. Hope they expand the line and add more shades.
