Marc Jacobs Beauty recently released the #instamarc Light Filtering Contour palettes. The line has three palettes, Dream Filter 20 for light skin tones, Mirage Filter 40 for light to medium skin tones and Hi Fi Filter 60 for medium to deep skin tones.
The powders are very silky and are meant to be used for natural looking contours. The bronze side offers natural looking contour and shade to the face and the highlighting, brightens and lifts. Both powders don’t have any shimmer and are completely matte.
The packaging is very sleek, feels very luxurious and actually pretty big. If you’re familiar with his bronzer it’s about the same size so you get a lot of product for the price. It’s big but also very thin so I think it would be a perfect contour palette to take with you when you travel.
I picked up the Mirage Filter mainly cause of the yellow shade. The yellow shade is perfect for setting your under eye concealer and also for lifting up the cheeks. You can also use it under your contour if you like a sharper look.
The bronze side is a cooler toned powder and it’s perfect for shaping the face. It mimics shadow pretty well cause of the cool tones and looks very natural on the skin. Both powders blend seamlessly to the skin and look very natural even on daylight.
I have to admit I’m not a pro at contouring but this palette makes it very easy for me. I haven’t picked up any of the other contour palettes cause I don’t think I need one. They have too many choices and also contain shades that don’t go with my skin tone.
The verdict is that I really like this palette. I like natural looking skin and I think this palette is perfect for that. You can intensify your contour if you like a more contoured face as the powders are buildable but for me less is more.
